Fun Times with Nana & Grandpa

We enjoyed having a visit from Nana in the middle of last week and then a bonus weekend visit with her and Grandpa! We had fun hanging out at home reading, playing games, doing puzzles, and watching a few movies, and also had outings to the zoo, church, and lunch afterward. I'll let the pictures tell the story!

Mother Goose sitting on her eggs!

It was great to have you here with us, Grandpa and Nana!

What's red and plaid and cute all over?

These four sweeties!

Cozy pj's are one of the few upsides to the continuation of cold weather this winter! These were actually the girls' from last winter, so LL and SJ's barely fit, but they humored me by putting them on so I could get a few shots of all 4 together after discovering an identical pair (minus the white lace trim added by Gran to the girls'!) in a bag of baby boy clothes a friend passed on for RL. Probably one of the few times his clothes will be so similar to his sisters...:)

Dancing Bears

AG played another solo last Tuesday. This time she sang the words instead of the solfege...a big step! So proud of her...she has a great attitude about practicing and meeting the challenge of learning new skills each week.

Nine Years

Yesterday was our ninth anniversary...wow, that sounds like a long time but feels shorter somehow. It's kind of crazy how much our lives have changed in that span of time, but we are so grateful for that!

Here we are, about to head out to dinner last night...

(Thanks again, Nana!)

We give thanks for 9 wonderful years and the blessings God has showered on our lives together.

RL is 4 Months...already!

Tuesday marked a third of a year since RL joined us! Here are a few fun facts.

New skills: holding onto toys, rolled from back to tummy (90%...just needed a nudge for his shoulders)

Most endearing activities: Laughing, cuddling, "talking", flashing big grins, and drooling alot

Newest buddy: Moe, his monkey "lovie" has been riding along in his carseat recently

Preferred activity: Besides sleeping, eating, swinging, and playing on the floor, he can't get enough of staring at the chandelier in the dining room.

Progess in his quest to outgrow his sisters: Officially weighed 16 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 25.5 inches today at his well-check.

Biggest admirers: Three big sisters, his mommy, daddy, and a fan club of grandparents and great-grandparents!

What a charmer!

He is a big hand-chewer...

Fun Day Trip

Yesterday we went to an exhibit of art created during the process of making several of the classic Disney movies. The works, many of them original pencil sketches, showcased how the animators conceptualized the characters and then brought them to life visually. It was pretty neat, and the girls each seemed to enjoy it in their own way!

On our way in...it was a beautiful, BRIGHT day!

LL and SJ were drawn, understandably, to the TVs showing movie segments. I snapped this photo and was promptly (but courteously) informed that there was to be no photography in the exhibit!

We made it through and they were all still smiling!

Afterward we went to meet some friends we'd known in TX for lunch. They have four kids (a girl and three boys) who very closely mirror ours in age, so it was a lively and extremely fun visit for all!

The older kids hit it off immediately and had a great time over lunch and playing at the park afterward. It was such a beautiful day and tons of people were out enjoying it, so the park was packed!

Start to finish, it was a wonderful day!

SNOW!!!

Snow two years in a row in the deep South...are we dreaming? No, yesterday morning we awoke and looked out the window to see the ground covered and huge snowflakes falling pretty heavily (by our standards!). T came home from work to play with the girls, and there were plenty of snowballs thrown, a few little snowpeople built, and AG made her first snow angel!

I don't think SJ remembers the snow we had last winter. She was fascinated with it this time and kept scooping up handfuls and eating it! Here she is trying to catch it...

As Nana said, our kids are going to think it snows here every winter! RL slept through his first snow, and by the time he awoke, it was almost all gone. Dare we look forward to more next winter?

Warming up with hot chocolate

LL took this one...

and AG this one.

We finished the day with snow ice cream after supper! SJ approved of it in this form, too!

Fun Randomness

Who Dat? Nanoo and Uncle Bill gave the kids these Saints shirts at Christmas, so they were well-dressed for the big game. Needless to say, there's been ALOT of Saints-talk and celebration going on around here for a while now!

"If you think I'm cute, you should see my Daddy." Well-said (or worn), RL! :)

We love to get RL going with his adorable laugh!

A Trip Around the Block

Want to make a loop around the block with us?

Follow the leaders! Try hard to keep up...

Make sure to hold hands when you cross the street!

If you don't walk so well, you can just hang out...

Pick up "carrot sticks" and "sugar cubes" to feed the neighbor's horses, PJ and Buddy. Don't worry, they won't bite! (even if you try to put the food in their noses instead of their mouths...)

Give them a hug before you go...we're almost home!

Whew! We made it! Come inside and relax. A trip around the block may be a little tiring...

but it's always alot of fun!

A Visit from Gran and PopPop

My parents came this week so we could celebrate my mom's birthday with them. The weather was icky...too wet and cold to get out at all...but that was OK. There were plenty of indoor activities that kept everyone busy the whole visit, including putting on a production of the Sleeping Beauty ballet in a neat puppet theater, reading lots of books, playing doctor (AG especially loves taking care of a "sick" PopPop, which he never complains about...probably because it's the best chance he gets to rest while he's here:), and watching the Nutcracker ballet (the girls could not get enough of this...even SJ was completely captivated).

RL got plenty of attention, too! He was happy to hang out with PopPop...

(As you can see he likes to chew on his hands, especially his right thumb. I think this may be a major factor in his better sleep over the last few weeks.)
