Playtime and Bedtime

Just hanging out with Daddy...

LL following in AG's footsteps!

Last night was a big night...AG slept in her "new" twin bed for the first time! She was excited, we were proud, and it was a good first step in the major bed-swap that will take place for the girls over these next few months. Here's the big girl just before "lights out".

Good night to all!

Everyday Fun

AG snuggling with a few of her babies! This is a tea party AG set up yesterday for some "children" that look alot like her stuffed animals! She worked on this for quite a while and chattered away the whole time, planning and explaining every detail.

LL got all dressed up this morning and did her own on-the-spot alterations for her too-long dress by keeping her chin down the whole time!

The girls had fun playing at the zoo last week when we went with Aunt Claire.

Special Visitors and a Special Day

In the last week, we've enjoyed some visits from friends and family...always a welcome event at our house (hint, hint!!). Last Monday through Wednesday one of my college roommates, known as "Aunt Claire" to the girls and pictured above with them, came to stay with us. She was a great playmate for the girls and went with us to the zoo and storytime at the library. And Claire and I even had a chance to go out to dinner and the mall one night while T stayed home with AG and LL... such a treat for me!
Then Saturday, Nana and Grandpa came over and took us all out for a fun lunch at a local spot which was a hit with the girls. AG was introduced to hushpuppies and LL probably ate half her weight in french fries! Above, Nana, AG, and LL inspected a fuzzy white "pillar" they discovered in our backyard...much prettier and less threatening-seeming than the prickly black stinging ones we had before! The other big event of that day was that, thanks to a really good lesson from Nana, AG learned to ride her tricycle! She's had it since her birthday but just got the hang of it, and everyday now she wants to go out and practice.

Yesterday we had an all-day visit from Gran and PopPop. They came early and stayed with the girls while I went to my 30 week appointment (yes, just 10 weeks to go, if that! Suddenly the end of August seems very close! All's going well still, thankfully). Later that morning we went to see some "Aztec" dancing at the library and then met T at the park for lunch. Here are the girls swinging in "big girl" swings...even LL, with Gran standing by!

Clearly AG knows all about this swinging stuff.

One more picture of T with his girls on Sunday before church (notice the Mardi Gras beads...). We had a nice relaxing Father's Day which was only darkened slightly for T by the fact that Tiger did not win.

This picture was taken in our front yard and reminded me of another recent happening that hit close to home. Yesterday, as I was putting the girls down for naps after our park playtime I heard a strange noise, but didn't think much of it until my Dad came in from running an errand and told us there'd been a pretty bad wreck outside. I went out to see a smashed up car sitting in our next door neighbor's front yard (which is behind T and the girls in the picture above) and one of the pretty big crepe myrtles directly across the street from us totally uprooted. The details are sketchy, but we know that this guy whose mom lives down the street from us somehow drove across the street, sidewalk on the opposite side, and through three front yards, before knocking down the tree across from us and coming back across to our side, ending up in our neighbor's yard facing the direction from which he came. He was not seriously hurt (although he left the scene in an ambulance), and other than the tree and lots of broken glass/car debris in the street, sidewalk, and yard beside us, there was not too much damage left behind. But what a crazy event! The timing was truly merciful since there was no one in the yards or on the sidewalk where lots of neighborhood people (including us and the girls!) walk and play everyday.

And that's about it for now... other than an upcoming few days at the beach, we don't have too much going on this summer (well, other than the obvious anticipated "arrival" at the end of August!). So if any of you out there want to "add your name to our guest book" over the next few months, just let us know!

Happy Father's Day!

AG stays cool in the pool with her Daddy and knows she's in good hands!

LL shares a sweet moment with two of her favorites: Daddy and Ellie.

Fun in the sprinkler!

Happy Father's Day to our Daddy, Grandpa, PopPop, and PawPaw! We are two blessed little girls to have so many special men looking out for us and leading the way for our family. We love you!!!

Photo Catch Up Begins!

Here are a few of the photos taken since we got a new camera...it has taken me way too long to figure out how to get them on here, but it appears we may have a bit of progress here! Above, LL's fondness for accessories of all kinds continues!

As I posted before, we had a great trip to MS two weekends ago to celebrate T's parents 35th wedding anniversary! The girls enjoyed playing the piano at Nana and Grandpa's house...

and LL loved splashing during her first swim in a big pool. As you can see, Nana was on hand to keep her above water while her mommy took a few pictures!
Here are the girls all dressed up and ready for the anniversary party. The little ones were on hand for about the first hour, then slept right through the rest of the festivities!

More to come...

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Update

It's been a busy few weeks...and I still don't know how to post pictures from our new camera, but that is on my to-do list, I promise! For now, just a few word pictures, if you can imagine:

-Last weekend: a trip to MS to stay with Nana and Grandpa and celebrate
their 35th wedding anniversary. Much fun was had by all...the girls got
swim (LL's first real pool experience!) and have some good grandparent
time, which included plenty of "Peter Pan" reading (and watching the
movie once, too!)
-This week: lots of downtime, filled with plenty of play here at home and
some outings to the library. AG has been enjoying dressing up, learning
to use scissors, and not surprisingly, pretending to act out and recreate
characters and places from Peter Pan (did I mention this was her
Daddy's favorite story when he was little?). LL is putting together so
many ideas and voicing them...kind of like sentences without the non-
essentials ("Daddy...working...tools." "AG...sleeping...bed." "Paw (aka
Grandpa)...all done...driving (he had been mowing on the riding
mower).")

More soon! Have a good weekend!
