Carousel

Last weekend, Gran and PopPop came to babysit the girls so T and I could go out to celebrate our anniversary. The next morning we took the girls to ride the carousel, and they loved it! We got there before the crowd, so they had their pick of any animal they wanted. Gran and PopPop got in on the action, too, as you can see.AG chose a tiger, and LL picked a galloping white horse...

Afterward, PopPop treated us all to ice cream! What a fun morning!

Seven Years

Today is our 7th anniversary! Somehow now that we're here, 7 seven years doesn't seem very long. I feel sure that has something to do with how drastically and wonderfully our lives have been changed in just the last 4 years with the addition of the girls. We have so much to be thankful for, and I am so blessed to be able to share it all with T.

Gran's Big Day

We started this month by celebrating my mom's birthday with a weekend away with her and my dad. They'd planned for us to spend a few nights in a nearby town in a B&B, and it was lots of fun. Here are the girls with Gran on her birthday night, all ready for bed. AG actually got to sleep in the bed in this picture, which she called her "princess bed."We were blessed with beautiful weather and enjoyed lots of walks around town. Here are the girls setting out with PopPop.
On Saturday morning we toured a nearby plantation house and grounds. It was pretty neat and the girls seemed to like it, especially the farm animals. There was a huge pig and a turkey that strutted right up to us, showing off. LL was very clear about not liking the turkey but she couldn't stop looking at it or talking about it...kind of like her response to Santa.
Here we are in front of the house we stayed in.
It was a great weekend and a fun way for us to mark Gran's "big" birthday!

Sisters

Another Field Trip, Another Parade...

Just a few days in the life of a preschooler! AG's activities keep us all busy many days! A few weeks ago I took all the girls to meet her class at the fire station. She got to go inside a fire truck and even squirt the hose!
AG and stroller-bound LL hanging out in the midst of classmates, other moms, and younger siblings...
AG got to fully participate in the Mardi Gras parade at school this year (last year this was the event we checked out when thinking about enrolling her). Here she is sitting along the parade route, repeatedly mouthing the words, "Throw me something!" By the end of the parade her bag was overflowing!
She also got to ride in a wagon "float" and throw candy out to the other kids.
LL enjoyed filling a cup with things that were thrown to us and then throwing them right back out onto the floor. This little game kept her, me, and the lady beside us busy for over an hour!

February's Flying

This month has been a whirlwind! It started with a weekend away to celebrate my mom's birthday, then back to town for SJ's baptism, then a week of our usual routine, then last week I got hit with a nasty bug...and now here I sit, thankfully well again, and with some catching up to do when it comes to posting updates.

For now, though, I don't have the time to do much other than leave you with these views of an activity that is pretty much a daily part of life at our house. Yes, we have two little dress-up artists!

GIANTS!

Today, I feel sure there is alot of talk going on around the country about Giants. I must say I am glad everyone else is finally catching up, since Giants have been the hot topic of conversation at our house now for at least a month. I don't know what started it, but weeks ago AG and LL started this imaginary game where they'd yell, "A giant is coming!" and then pretend like one was outside the door. Since then, LL has developed a sort of giant-obsession. She talks about them alot and requests reading about Goliath from various Bible story books repeatedly. One day she concluded that "Santa is a giant" after we went by T's workplace, triggering memories of her unfortunate encounter with Santa there back in December.

Anyway, before the Super Bowl yesterday evening I was telling her about the two teams and asked which she hoped would win, the Patriots or the Giants. She look at me and answered, "The Giants" and then matter-of-factly informed me that "They're sweet to me" and "They won't bite me." (This is exactly the same language she uses to remind herself that our friends' dog is harmless when we go visit!) Then as she watched her team run onto the field, she made an assessment I bet no one else watching made: "They're beautiful....they're so beautiful, Daddy!" Maybe we've turned a corner on this whole giant thing...or maybe we've only added to the confusion/fascination for her. Time will tell.

Flashing sweet grins at anyone whose eye she catches...not new, but we never get tired of this one!
